Huawei Cloud’s President unveils regional expansion plans – Interview

Riyadh – Mubasher: Alan Qi, President of Huawei Cloud Middle East and Central Asia, announced investment plans in Saudi Arabia to back the cloud-first strategy.

In an interview with Mubasher.info, Qi highlighted that Huawei decided to invest in Cloud Region in Saudi Arabia, considering the Kingdom as a promising strategic market.

The official pointed out that the tech company first announced its investments in the Kingdom during the LEAP 2023 exhibition.

In September 2023, Huawei Cloud launched the first availability zone and the first data centre in Riyadh. Later on, the company expanded its network to three data centres and three availability zones.

Qi also noted that they were granted “a Class (C) licence from the Communications and Information Technology Commission", which allowed them to host highly confidential data for their government and major enterprise customers.

Huawei Cloud has been providing more than 80 ready-made cloud services in Riyadh, enhancing network performance to less than 25 milliseconds.

In addition, the President unveiled plans to expand services from Saudi Arabia to neighbouring countries, including the Gulf, Levant, and North Africa.

It is with noting that Saudi Arabia is hosting the 24 Fintech event which kicked off on 3 September 2024.
